MCC ARRIVES IN CLEVELAND & AKRON

Northeastern Ohio has finally seen the arrival of Metropolitan Community Church! So what, you say. Well, MCC has been responsible in one way or another for much of the progress the gay community has made around the country, as well as bringing a much needed source of spiritual inspiration into our community. this is not another one of those 'gay churches', but is a Christian church with an outreach into the gay community by other gay people.Currently, the national organization of MCC has a membership of around 17,000, and about 65 churches.It is hard to fix a figure, because new churches are joining every day.This is a for real group of people, who sincerely believe, and try to live, the message of love that is preached. Both Akron and Cleveland have started churches, and are growing slowly, but surely. Joel xauhl, the worship coordinator for Akron MCC, and Art MacDonald, the minister for Fellowship MCC in Cleveland, both believe that MCC has a great potential in this area, and can offer much to th gay and straight communities here. So if you want to attend church, and feel comfortable, and welcome, look up your local MCC, and see what you can offer them, as well as what they can offer you! In Cleveland, call 781-6153. In Akron, ask at Satan's, or Mother's. These people can do a lot for you, so let's get involved, and support a fine movement. They are here for all of us, men and women, black and white,rich and poor, gay and straight. try it, like it!

ALL-OHIO GAY PRIDE

a well-kept secret

Someplace in the city of Cleveland, on the weekend of May 3, 4, 5, the Gay Activist Alliance of Case Western Reserve University is sponsoring an All Ohio Gay Pride Weekend.. Unfortunately, this does not include the Cleveland gay community. Local organizations have had there offers of help politely ignored, and have been kept totally unaware of the scheduled program for this weekend. The idea of Gay Pride is to establisn something that the gay community can look at with a feeling of accomplishment and unity.It is very difficult to believe that GAA is working for unity in this city, when they have ignored every other group around, in planning their program. This is not to say that the program is not a fine idea; it will be a productive event.However, GAA needs to wake up to the fact that there are other people around who would like to help. Let's all work together to raise the level of awareness of the Cleveland gay community,shali we, gang?!

GAY COMMUNITY COUNCIL

A Gay Community Council, formed by five of the gay organizations in Cleveland, came into existance this: last month, for the purpose of constructive programs for the gay community. Keep your eyes peeled for news about what they are doing. For information, you can call 781-6153.
